How does Enhance work in the Photos app?
How it works
The Photos app shows the photos and videos in the Pictures library on your PC and on OneDrive. The Pictures library is primarily your Pictures folder, but can also include external drives, shared network folders, and other folders on your PC.
– To see files on OneDrive
– Open the Photos app.
Tap or click Pictures library in the upper-left corner, and then tap or click OneDrive.
The Photos app automatically enhances photos by tweaking things such as colour, contrast, brightness or red eyes, or even straightening a slanted horizon, as needed.
Changes aren’t saved to your original files – you can switch enhancements on or off at any time.
If you see a tick on the Enhance button, your photo is enhanced. If not, it’s already perfect!
Turn it on or off
In the Photos app, use the Enhance button to switch between the original and enhanced photo. Enhancing doesn’t permanently change your original photo.
To remove all automatic enhancements at once, go to Settings in the Photos app, and turn off Automatically enhance my photos. You can still enhance photos one at a time, even when this is turned off.
Move the files to the Pictures library
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you’re using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)
Enter File Explorer in the search box, and then tap or click File Explorer in the results.
Browse to the folder that contains your photos. (If your files are on an external drive, connect the drive to your PC.)
Tap or click the File menu, and then tap or click Open new window.
Drag or copy the folder or photos you want to see in the Photos app from the original folder into the Pictures folder.
Add files, folders, and drives to the Pictures library
If you have photos in another folder or drive and don’t want to move them to the Pictures folder, you can add them to the Pictures library. To learn how, see “How do I add a folder to a library?” in Libraries: FAQ.
Show thumbnails from the Pictures library
If you upgraded from a previous version of Windows, your thumbnail files might not be showing up in the Photos app. Here’s how make them appear.
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you’re using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)
Enter File Explorer in the search box, and then tap or click File Explorer in the results.
Tap or click the View tab.
Tap or click Options and then tap or click Change folder and search options.
Tap or click View and clear the check mark next to Always show icons, never thumbnails.
Tap or click OK.
